EltaMD Moisture Seal is a two-ingredient occlusive balm: petrolatum and paraffin, and nothing else. It melts on contact, spreads into a thin protective layer and holds moisture in for up to 24 hours. There is no water in it, which is why it needs no preservatives at all. Use it on dry, flaky, intact skin after a cosmetic treatment.

Two ingredients is the whole point. Skin that has just been through a treatment reacts to things, and a formula with nothing in it to react to is the safest kind of barrier you can put on. No water means no preservative system, no fragrance, no dyes and nothing that needs stabilising.

It is concentrated, so a pea-size amount covers the face. Apply a thin coat, give it two minutes, then pat off whatever has not settled in. Piling it on does not work faster and it will sit greasy.

How to Use

Moisture Seal is very concentrated. Begin with no more than a pea-size amount on your fingertip.
For best results, apply daily to clean, moist skin.
Apply a thin coat over the skin and let it settle. After two minutes, gently pat off any excess.

Perfect for sensitive skin, especially with retinol

I use this moisturizer on my face and it has worked sooo well for me. I�ve been using retinol and my skin is pretty sensitive, so I needed something that would really protect my skin barrier without irritating it.This product is super light but still very moisturizing. It�s kind of similar to Vaseline, but way better, it literally melts into my skin like butter and doesn�t feel heavy or greasy at all.My skin feels calm, hydrated, and protected after using it. Definitely a must if you�re using retinol or have sensitive skin.

Best skin care line I have found

I absolutely love EltaMD Moisture Seal Moisturizer. I have used Lancome, Shiseido, and everything in between, but this EltaMD is the best line I have found. I start with the amino acid foam facial cleanser, followed by the Moisture seal, and ending with the tinted daily SPF 40 sunscreen. I no longer need to wear any makeup at all (except for dark circle concealer.) My skin has never looked healthier and younger. I will say, that the Moisture Seal recommends slightly moist clean skin before applying it, so I leave my skin somewhat damp before applying it. I could not be happier with the results. Initially my skin appears a bit shiny, but by the time I leave the house it's more like a natural glow with no need for foundation, blush or powders!

Purchased for my mother who is in Nursing home temporary for rehabilitation.Anyway the heat in there is super dry and she was saying her face feels bad .I noticed she had alot of dry skin so i got her this.After a few days i noticed immediately her face looked 99% better and she she felt better.She uses twice a day until she goes home .Only thing it is greasy but she uses very little in the day and more at night.It does get on her pillow case but i change it daily because it drives her crazy .I also wanted to note the pm moisturizer bought had an old date or mybe it was the date it was manufactured so i didnt chance it since it was 2011 so that got tossed.This particular one seems ok.This also works great on her hands as well ,she puts mittens on with this at bedtime and no more dryed hands.

My skin is awful (dry, sensitive, flaky, blotchy, I never took care of it for 60 years) THIS creamy ointment is fantastic. I now use it at night and I use a little less for day use. It makes my skin so smooth and glowy. Love this stuff. Works well on elbows, hands, feet - it really great!!!!
